Ohio, Here I Come!

Jari and I will be traveling to Ohio tomorrow to the National Tunis Sale in Wooster Ohio. This will be our first tunis show/sale and we are very excited about it!
Since tunis are so rare on this side of the Mississippi, we have never been to a tunis show and hope to learn much. I am going looking for a ram, so this will also be the first time I will get to critique the sheep in person, and make my choice based on what I see in person rather than what I am told on the phone or see in a picture.
Wish us luck and lots of fun, I will see you all when we get back on the 29th!

Nekkid Sheep

Sorry its been so long since I posted, just cant seem to get time at a fast connection to do it very often...

Well, another shearing has come and gone! And I still want to strangle the shearers!

Brothers working together, one is a great shearer, the other is just in a hurry. The first ewe the 'one in a hurry' sheared came out looking like she had tangled with a barber with a dull blade, and I almost stopped them right then. As they went on though he got a bit better, still more 'nics' than I would have liked. I know nics happen, but this was kinda ridiculous.

This is a Honey's girl this year, I'm not sure what we will name her yet, but I think she is going away anyway. If I were going to keep any, this would be one. She is pulling away from Jari's hands, hence the sway backed look, she has a great top-line, and check out that butt!!!
This is Carmine Jr, well we haven't named him yet either but 'Beef Cakes' is his nic name :)Beautiful top line, with that beefy look about him. He is for sale too! Again, the picture doesn't do him much justice, just take my word for it, he is handsome! The dogs like to play with hay twine, so Jari was braiding a piece when Tug decided she needed his help lol!

On A Happier Note... DYE DAY!!!

We finally got internet in the new office in Winnemucca, and I finally got a minute to myself to post.

I went to Reno last weekend to take my new-used car to the Hyundai service center; it has a problem with the timing chain tensioner (greek to me) and aparently that causes it to lose oil pressure. So we picked up a loaner on the way, dropped the car off at Lithia, Hyundai Dealer (one of the many that go by the name of Lithia, but dont let anyone tell you it is on Virginia, it is on Kietzke Lane or I will eat someones hat), checked into an over priced hotel with a brick for a bed, and went to dinner at the Peppermill. This was my early Mother's Day dinner. We would have eaten at Red Lobster if I'd have had any sense, but I didnt realize it had moved and was open in its new location until my brain kicked in half way through dinner at the Island Buffet. Which was OK, just not Red Lobster.... I have to go back and get my car this Friday though, maybe I will take my sister out for Mother's Day hehehe....
After dinner we went back to our motel, and proceded to try to sleep on the afore mentioned brick.

Saturday dawned regardless of how little sleep we both got, and after breakfast at IHOP, DH took me to meet Sharon for our DYE DAY! Then he went looking for the perfect gun. His adventures were many, between Cabella's new 100 acre store, Sportsman's Warehouse and various other 'gun stores', but I wont bore you (or myself) with the tale :)

Sharon picked me up and we went to Mim's (who also posted about this the other day), and then on to Sharon's house where the garage and the burners awaited us.
All in all it was a great day, I am looking forward to the time when we can get together again (Ian, your burritos were wonderful! Thanks again!) The only low point was when it came time to go, I couldnt find a 3.6 ounce length of merino pencil drafted roving that I dyed. Mim and Sharon have both checked around for it, it is just simply gone.

(see the wormy looking bundle above the orangy thing? This is the missing merino, so I know I didn't imagine it lol)

Beware, Bitch Fest Ahead...

I hate working out of town!!!! :(
I hate working in an office with other people in it!!!
I don't hate much, but my job is quickly becoming one of the minority here.

Recently, the company where I have worked for 8 years decided to get into mining. We have been an exploritory drilling company since I started, and although we were part owners of a mine situated in the middle of our property here in northern Nevada, we didn't actually mine it. Until last year. After the company that had bought part interest in the Hollister Mine decided they had gotten a raw deal, all of a sudden Great Basin Gold had a mine to mine. And they didn't waste any time; we went from being run by Hunter-Dickinson in Vancouver to having all our edicts coming from South Africa. This wasnt necessarily a bad thing, except that I dont think they realize how much different life here is than it is there. Anyway, I ended up hourly instead of contract, again not a bad thing, until they started talking about moving my office. Now just so you get where I'm coming from, I have worked here in Battle Mountain, 10 minutes away from my home, 5 minutes away from any one of the public schools, for over 7 years. My kids have gone through most of their school years with me r i g h t h e r e. My Mother is 74 years old. She has no other family to take her to the store or clinic or to pick up her prescriptions. She has friends, but she hates to impose on them more than she absolutely has to. My sister doesnt have the kind of job you can take ten or fifteen minutes any time you need to run an errand. So that leaves me, as I have had that kind of job. Oh yeah, and I have a 15 year old daughter, who if given enough leash will hang herself with it (to be fair, she has been really great lately!)
They have been working with me pretty good on this, knowing that I've been here longer than anyone else that works for the company right now, and knowing that I have responsibilities that no one else can shoulder. Until last Monday. 'They' said I will be moving all my stuff to Winnemucca, no more office in Battle Mountain; Tuesday, 'they' said I would be working 3 days a week in Winnemucca, and one here. I really think my new boss is trying to work with me, but I dont know how much longer he will hold out. *heavy sigh*

So, here I sit, in my office, all by myself. Which is exactly the way I want it, but it wont be for long.

My job discription is changing also, no more digitizing maps, at least not like I did; most of them will be done on-screen by a geologist. They have me doing a lot of graphic type things for them, working on presentations and the like, but since I'm not a geologist, I can't really say what needs to go in them, so it is just graphics. I do data entry, but who wants to pay someone the kind of money I make for data entry??? No one, and that scares me. What happens if they decide to save some money and hire someone who they wont have to pay as much? I have been working on a drafters salary, I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure it is a bit higher than a graphics salary.

Thanks for being the shoulder... I would really rather be spinning.
