Happy Thanksgiving!
We are having an annual craft fair this weekend, I went tonight (Friday) but wont be there tomorrow; the local spinning group (meaning this corner of the State) is meeting tomorrow in Spring Creek (outside Elko) and it should be a really fun meeting! We are going to do some show and tell, it will be at an angora goat farm owned by one of the group. Members are also encouraged to bring different spinning paraphernalia to show off different methods and tricks.
Sunday, we are headed for sunny Arizona! Going to spend Thanksgiving with the FIL in Oracle. There are a few fiber shops in Tucson but I picked two that I am going to visit; Grandma's Spinning Wheel, and Unique Designs. Both carry raw/processed wool and spinning utensils. I am almost looking forward to that more than I am TG dinner!!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, with lots of love! ...and food :)

Catching Up
I have been working on scrunchies. And more scrunchies. And more... well, you get the picture :)
These are the two main patterns I use...
Group Picture!
I was looking through stuff (actually when I was looking for the silver romney in the previous post) and came across some cute little roving balls that I had made of the moorit romeldale fleece I bought from Terry last year (and again this year) but they were hard. Apparently I didn't get it clean the first time I washed it. I unrolled them and wound them around in my Ozark Delights Fleece Washing Bag and ran them through the washer. I was afraid I would have to recard it, but the hand made rovings came out nice and fluffy and spun up to be shown in the next (not so good) picture. Bottom from the left: yak and merino, cashmere and merino, spun corriedale (or mohair, don't remember now which was in the pic :)
Top from the left: opossum (yes, opossum from New Zealand), moorit romeldale X, silver romney and camel. Here is half of the opossum spun up, don't know what I am going to do with it, but it is soft! I see another scarf in my future!
Besides the moorit romeldale cross, I bought another fleece from Terry, it has been featured in several previous posts, this is the third year I have bought it; a dark grey romeldale cross. They went into this box Thursday and off to Morro Fleece Works! I still have some here, they are very fun to play with :)

Singles
As soon as I was off the phone with Laura, I went into my adopted girls room and started digging in the closet for my romney!
Here is what I spun. This is my attempt to do a somewhat bulky single. It isn't even by far, but I don't think it was bad for my first attempt!
There is a discussion in one of the Ravelry groups that I follow about relaxing singles, where I got the idea to try this. All I did was wash it in hot water with just a small bit of Dawn. There are a few places in it where it is thinner than others so it is twisted tighter and didn't calm down as much as the thicker areas, but I don't think this would cause a problem when making something out of it. I don't know if I will be able to though, because of the thin spots, they will stick out horribly.

Go Sarah, Go!
Elko was her last campaign stop and Northern Nevada was out in force to give her a boost into today! It was crazy! We got in line to enter the Elko High School Auditorium at 8PM; at 9:30PM we were going through the metal detectors; at 10:30PM, all the local speakers were done speaking and the band had pretty much played all their pep music... still no Sarah. At 11:50, the Mayor of Elko got up on the podium and said "Are you ready?" to which everyone yelled and screamed and whistled and clapped... "The plane just landed. It will be another 15 mins" to which you hear booo boooo boooooo!! He quickly amends that it will be 15 minutes or less, to avoid all out rebellion I think.
At 12:10AM, the Mayor again ascends the podium, everyone is wary of another trick at this point, so his reception is a bit cool, but it was the real thing and he announced Mrs. Sarah Palin!
But this was pretty cool :)
Sarah Palin is coming closer to being Vice President than any woman in our country's history, and that is very exciting to me! I was about 30 feet away from her (my camera sucks dammit!) but I managed to get a so-so video...
...Unfortunately, it was taking way too long to upload.
I don't stand well for long periods of time, I have curvature in my lower back and waaaayyyyy too much weight on my poor little feet and knees, so I was a hurtin' unit by the time she got there; yeah, it was worth it :)

Clarification...
Because of my controlling nature I suppose, I have settled into the belief that what is right and wrong in this world is solely the responsibility of man. Not that I want to get into a scripture war here, but the Bible does say that God's temple is in you, me and all of us. So my belief is that good (God) and evil (Devil) resides inside us and that you and I have the power to make decisions based on our moral code that has been taught to us throughout our life times. If someone is lacking that moral code, then evil will have its way. This is what I meant by "The power of choice, of self-reliance, and our own will."
Thanks for the comments :)
