Home Sweet Home

Yep, we made it! Got home on Tuesday evening, got up Wednesday with a head cold. Yay.

I feel a little better now, I'm pretty sure it started with the reaction to whatever it was in Chewelah that had me sneezing, then coming home to my cats after 10 days away was just too much for my sinuses.
I have posted some pictures on my FaceBook, they aren't in this computer but as soon as I get them on here I will share.
The trip home was fairly uneventful... except for when I went looking for a car charger for my phone and found my husbands missing gun. Yeah. I had just driven across Oregon and Washington with a concealed weapon. A LOADED concealed weapon.
A couple weeks ago my husband realized his .45 1911 was missing. We reported it stolen after we had went through the house, the truck, and yes the car with a fine toothed comb. It wasn't there then. Whoever took it, and I have to assume it was someone we know, got scared and hid it there after the fact. There is no access to the underside of the seat from the front, and it was shoved all the way up under the seat. I got home and called the sheriff station, the guy asked if I could safely remove the fire arm and if so would I 'read' the serial number to him so they could be sure it was the same gun. If he was so concerned, why didn't he come out to look at it? Guess it wasn't such a big deal to him, but it pissed me off. I told him I had touched the grip, and then put the gun back where it had been, didn't he want to come finger print it??? Apparently not.
So after getting over the realization that I could have spent at least a minimal amount of time in hand cuffs, waiting for them to determine who I was and that I hadn't stolen the gun, had I been stopped and the gun found, I brought the gun in the house. Shortly afterward my son handled it, then my husband. So whoever took it is free and clear and we'll never know for sure.

Otherwise it was a really great trip!

I couldn't get pictures loaded last night while at my friend Laura's house on Fox Island, so no update, but was able to here in Raymond, WA at my Mom's friend Betty's place.
This is the view that my friend Laura has from her deck, the two following were from the same deck just different views...
Rose garden... the deers love it, hence the lack of roses.

These are Betty's dogs, she took me to the beach after we got here while my Mom took a nap. The tide was coming in and the wind was blowing but I always enjoy a walk on the beach, wind water whatever lol

Just a view... and oh what a view!
Will still be in Raymond tomorrow, will try the beach again in the morning at low tide. In the afternoon my Mom and I will go over to our cousin Donna's house and visit with her for a day. On Saturday we will go to Aberdeen for a visit with my great Aunt, then hoping to be able to get up to Forks and La Push for a quick jaunt on the beach and some spectacular pictures!

Just a Quick Update...

We are in Wenatchee now, a very nice man (who will get a thank you note from me when we get home) found the problem with my wipers and fixed it. Apparently, there was a loose ground wire! After all that, a guy in a bitty shop, in a bitty back water town (it is smaller than Battle Mountain!) was the one I needed all along. I so wanted to hug him.
On to Tacoma and Fox Island tomorrow!

Washington, the beginning...

We're here! The first day was a breeze! We stopped in John day because it is about halfway between Battle Mountain and Chewelah Washington.... oh wait. You guys don't know whats going on! lol
My Mom has wanted to go visiting friends and family for quite awhile, so we planned to take a trip to Washington, first to my Sis's home in Chewelah, then to visit Laura, a friend on Fox Island, then to Raymond to visit a cousin and a best friend, up to Aberdeen to visit an Aunt, then take a quicky trip up to La Push! (thats the part I'm waiting for :)
And back to my story...
So we leave John day (after an uncomfortable night... my Mom slept like a bug in a rug, my bed was too hard lol woke up feeling about 20 years older), heading to Chewelah; about 30 minutes out of Pendleton, OR the windshield wiper motor quit. And of course it was raining or I wouldn't have noticed. The really bad part about that is I just had a new (used) one put in! Three days ago! Well, four now. So we have ahead of us the prospect of driving the width of Washington with no wipers. But never fear! We have RainX :)
Lots of pictures to come!
Here are a couple of my 'other' daughter and my 'other' grand daughter :)
Love you guys Mandy!

*sigh*

This was the view in front of my house this morning... the flower bed is in dire need of attention, but the daffs don't care... pore little daffs.

Goodies!

This is it! The fiber I've been waiting for! Merino, bamboo and nylon, its called Panda from Ashland bay. My excellent friend Mim got it for me! Since I started knitting, I thought it would be great to make my own sock yarn (and maybe some for other sockers), and this stuff is soooo wonderful! I will be doing three plys with at least some of this, even though three ply can be so tedious! ...see the wad of dark fiber there at the bottom right?
That belongs with this. I traded Billie (a spinning/shepherdess friend) 8 ounces of the above for this alpaca/mohair blend she just got back from Spinderella's in Salt Lake. I've never sent fiber there (Shari at Morro has me rotten), but it looks like they do a good job!
And of course, the obligatory Joy picture :)) I absolutely love this baby girl!
We'll call this one 'bath time'.
