Nekkid Sheep

Sorry its been so long since I posted, just cant seem to get time at a fast connection to do it very often...

Well, another shearing has come and gone! And I still want to strangle the shearers!

Brothers working together, one is a great shearer, the other is just in a hurry. The first ewe the 'one in a hurry' sheared came out looking like she had tangled with a barber with a dull blade, and I almost stopped them right then. As they went on though he got a bit better, still more 'nics' than I would have liked. I know nics happen, but this was kinda ridiculous.

This is a Honey's girl this year, I'm not sure what we will name her yet, but I think she is going away anyway. If I were going to keep any, this would be one. She is pulling away from Jari's hands, hence the sway backed look, she has a great top-line, and check out that butt!!!
This is Carmine Jr, well we haven't named him yet either but 'Beef Cakes' is his nic name :)Beautiful top line, with that beefy look about him. He is for sale too! Again, the picture doesn't do him much justice, just take my word for it, he is handsome! The dogs like to play with hay twine, so Jari was braiding a piece when Tug decided she needed his help lol!

I like my shearer, his personality, but he cuts my sheep up bad also! What can you do if there are no other choices?

I am sorry you had so much problem with your shearer. I have to say Penny was great in that I think I only saw two second cuts (which she apologized for) and very few, if any, nicks on the sheep. It was the smoothest year ever!
Maybe by next year you'll find someone else - or we can talk Penny into doing Nevada!

Yup - what Mim said.

It's really hard not to cut them if you're going fast... Since I shear some of my own sheep on a stand, I'm better, but I still cut them occasionally. I'm always bummed when I do it.

I may have to shear Brava myself from now on, as she may have many knots and bumps from all the injections. Those easily get sheared right off with the pros' big, sharp combs-- OUCH!

And Becky, I haven't forgotten about your prize. Kinda crazy around here....

P.S. Remember, Shetlands are SMALL! You could take a cute little fiber boy home from BSG on your LAP! Still coming?

BSG? We're going too! And here I thought I could leave a ram lamb at your doorstep...

No BSG for me this year :(

My son's 18th birthday is that weekend. Wow huh?

I would rather be here for that, but cant we have BSG on another weekend? Who do I need to call..... lol
