Goodies!

This is it! The fiber I've been waiting for! Merino, bamboo and nylon, its called Panda from Ashland bay. My excellent friend Mim got it for me! Since I started knitting, I thought it would be great to make my own sock yarn (and maybe some for other sockers), and this stuff is soooo wonderful! I will be doing three plys with at least some of this, even though three ply can be so tedious! ...see the wad of dark fiber there at the bottom right?
That belongs with this. I traded Billie (a spinning/shepherdess friend) 8 ounces of the above for this alpaca/mohair blend she just got back from Spinderella's in Salt Lake. I've never sent fiber there (Shari at Morro has me rotten), but it looks like they do a good job!
And of course, the obligatory Joy picture :)) I absolutely love this baby girl!
We'll call this one 'bath time'.

I agree with you Becky. 3 ply is tedious (sometimes I do cheat with navajo ply). Will you dye your merino blend for socks? I luv mohair as a blend. I think it goes with everything!

Good to see you got the fiber. I like your shipping company she got here soon after you called!

I decided not to get the Panda - I love the Merino/Tussah/Bamboo... I'll bet the dye take up would be similar!

What a cute baby!!

I thought about doing Navajo ply, but will that leave a weak spot at the chain? I've used it many times just not for sock yarn...
GarySue is great, she wasn't able to come this way with it, but Billie was coming through so she grabbed it for me.
I like the Merino/tussah/bamboo also, it is a dream to spin! I have quite a bit of that left.

Like in Little Red Riding Hood - my, what big eyes you have! Joy has beautiful eyes. I have used Spinderella and was pleased but I'm with you, spoiled by Morro Bay.

Joy is so sweet, man! Ok, can you tell me what your wpi is on your singles to make your 3 ply?? Do you make really thick socks?
