Decisions

I've made several lately that are going to change how I live.
First, I've turned my notice in at the bar, my last day will be June 6th. The reason for this is I'm going to start working for the BLM again in fire as an expanded dispatcher. This potentially means long hours away from home, assignments that can last for a month before coming home... Hence the next decision. I am selling all my sheep. This has been coming for a while I guess, last years reduction was the start. Sam (of Moab) will take the four tunis (two lambs), along with Babs and Gracie. My next door neighbor will probably take the dorset Eliza and the suffolk Misty, possibly Scarlet (she originally came from there anyway, she's CA red and suffolk). I will keep the rest of the lambs from this season until they are ready to be sold. This is not a decision I make lightly, and it will affect everything from my taxes to my psyche.
Another decision is not to replace the chickens; coyotes got to them again, all of them dead, most dead from fear it looked like. The coyotes pried through the fence at the join and since I really didn't think they'd be able to get in ANY where much less there, I decided to wait for a bit till I can afford better accommodations for them before potentially putting any in danger again.
I wont be posting here again until I have something positive to say, hoping I will have a little time off between jobs so I can get my yen back in tune with my yang :) Haven't fibered enough lately...
Hoping you all have a wonderful spring and productive summer!

LOTS of changes coming in your life! Changes are stressful, even when they are changes for the better, so I hope you get that time off and some fiber-therapy to take care of YOU.

I finally talked to Correy - we'd be glad to take Babs and Gracie (Sam doesn't really need that many sheep, does she?).

I understand totally. I'm looking at a major change, too, and cutting down is the first step.

Hang in there...

Change is wrenching, no matter who you are or what the change is you are making. I'm on your team and cheering for your future. Perhaps you were inspired by your son's choice for a different tomorrow?

Hi, Becky...
Changes. I guess they are both good and bad at the same time, but you've stepped up to be brave to make the ones you have - well done!
Although we haven't had to endure coyotes with our small flock of hens, I am ready that when these go, that's it. No more for me either. This batch is the dumbest bunch I've ever seen! Life is too short to have stupid chickens, so when they go, they go.
I know how hard it was for you to come to the decision about the sheep. I also know that day will come for all of us, even though my hubby says I will be found dead in the sheep pen in my wellies when I'm 97. One can only hope...
but age and life sometime require hard decisions and changes.
Good onya, Becs. You know we're all here if you need us.
Hugs from a bit farther south...

And all your friends believe in you.
Go get 'em, Chica! A pub is too small to hold one such as yourself. ;)

Change isn't good or bad - what you do with it determines that. I think you're headed in the right direction - kinda like when I decided to give Tang up. It's a refinement, choosing what's important, and what works for where you are in your life. Brava, brava!!

Funny, until I saw that you left this comment, I had totally forgotten that I was going to sell my sheep! I didn't, of course. I still don't know what I would do without them. I have a true little darling out there right now, she's just like her mother, so sweet and lovable! And I want to add some. But why!? I must be nuts! It's like pulling teeth to get the money to buy hay every year, and then with a year like this one, where I've lost 1 our of every 3 bails due to rain. I'm must be crazy.
