I Found It!

Found my camera charger! And I've been taking pics all weekend :)

And here is the weed I was so jazzed about! It is a thistle! Yeah, I know its a weed, but its a big weed with pretty purple flowers all ensconced in those wicked looking barbs! My DM says I should rip it out, shes probably right :)

Gloriosa Daisies...
Shasta Daisies...
Rose...
Sweet Williams...
Sansa and Jack-Jack...
This is a three ply tunis yarn I am entering in the Fair...

Not sure yet if I like the colors; I might over dye it with blue or red.
Off to work! Have a great day!

You will want to rip it out or it will soon take over the world. You can't just rip them out and let them lie on the ground, either. There is enough water in the stems to complete the blooming process and set all the seeds on the plant - how insidious!! Anyway, cut it below the ground line, and wearing gloves, put it in the trash. If it were spring, I'd tell you to burn it, but not now!!

I have a thistle patch to end all thistle patches near my burn pile. I'm hoping that when it's ok to burn again (October-ish) that it will take care of them...

Oh yes, do rip out the Thistle, it will take over everything - there is a law in Ky that you are not allowed to plant it anywhere. . . but, we still get it.

I love the kitties (oh and what a great name, Jack-Jack!!) I wish I had more than one, but, well. . . anyway. . .and the dyeing is fabulous too! If you overdyed it, what would you get? I have the hardest time with that! (And holy cow, that's three ply??)

Actually, I can burn it where it sits, then poison the ground. There are no weeds to speak of on that side of the garage, so it would be easy to do :)
Jack-Jack was named after the baby in 'The Incredibles'. Trust me he earned it, and lives up to it every day LOL

I love the color of that skein; I think it's perfect as is. You'd better get a blue ribbon with it; you spin so wonderfully! I'm still trying to figure out what to knit with the purple skeins you sent me . . . something worthy . . . .

Great kitty picture - love how they mirror each other. I should have known you'd have a Tunis skein like that - I haven't even put color on mine. It's merely two-ply and now I'm wondering why I even entered a skein in the first place. It's 'cause I'm a loyal Tunis fan and Becky supporter~

Nice yarn! The color is pretty also. Looking forward to seeing you at the fair!

Sharon, I have an unfair advantage; I didn't know they were going to create a listing in the fair book specifically for tunis. I had planned on bringing this tunis roving (what the skein was made from) to the fair with me and passing it out to people who were interested in it. When Mim asked me to send some tunis for people to play with, I was ignorant to the fact that it was to enter into the fair. I sent part of my rams fleece, which isnt near as soft as this roving I have, because I have so little of the roving. So, I will probably just take this skein as an example and not enter it into the fair. I still have a lot of my rams fleece left, I will spin up some of that for the entry :)

thanks for all the pictures! Yay! I like the Tunis yarn. I biggy-fied the pictures to see it better. Is it soft? It looks like it has some lustre to it. And now I'm interested in the dyeing process that uses steaming...

Oh, the list goes on...

Good job and best of luck at the Fair!

The lavender your looking for are lavender wands. You can google it and get directions to make them. I'll show you when you come to stay for the fair. You need lavender with long stems.
